Born in the year 1972 in Kolkata with an inborn artistic knack and completed later on a professional comprehensive course in Fine Arts from Birla Academy Of Fine Arts, Kolkata with dedicated training in traditional Kalamkari Art from the academy. Obtained special training on Visual Art from Salarjane Museum, Hyderabad. Studied in Painting Restoration hand-on course from Victoria Memorial, Kolkata. Anjan Bhattacharya appears to be seamlessly transferring an indigenous art form to a contemporary one, by keeping the narrative aspect of this art form and setting in modern context. While many of his artworks look to be a background to the other in some ways-the rest individual pieces are site and time performances.
